The flock was established in 1968
with 9 gimmer lambs from my father, Rudolf Frandsen,
Skovladen. His flock again can be followed right
back to the import from Holland in 1961 and 1963.
Hammel Texel has 25-30 breeding ewes, and is
continuously buying good rams, in 1995 we also
imported new breeding stock from Holland.
We breed for a good exterior with
muscles on thighs and back, strong legs with a good
movement, fertility and material instincts plus
growth rate without fat, on animals with genotype 1
or 2.
The flock participates in all
good breeding arrangements and exhibits on the
National Show in Herning.
Health: Maedi/visna tested since
1987 and scrapie tested since 1996.
Animals from the flock have over
the years been exported to France, England, Canada,
Norway, Sweden and Finland.
Several flocks in Denmark have
bought breeding stock from the flock. Our biggest
customer during the last years has been the biggest
and most professional lamb producer in Denmark,
Vallø Lam. Most of the rams on Vallø are from Hammel
Texel. Look at

Our latest collaboration has been
a big export to Sweden of 500 gimmers ( got x tex x
tex) from Vallø and 13 ram lambs from Hammel Texel.
