The four flocks have since 1980
been tested in the official maedi/visna accredited
scheme and since 1996 they have also been tested for
scapie. All tests have been negative. The animals
that have gone to export are tested for Johne's
disease, border desease/BVD, salmonellosis, brucella
ovis and leptospira hardjo. All test negative.
In order to get better health
view of the flocks and to make sure, that we did
not, to ourselselves or any others, minimize any
symptoms of deseases, we arranged in the spring og
2005 with the veterinary surgeon Svend Bek-Pedersen,
MRCVS, Ĝlgod, that he visits us twice a year, once
in the lambing season and once just before tupping.
During these visits he looks at all animals in the
flocks, sees them moving an pays special attention
to symptoms of footrot, orf, entropion,
keraconjunctivitis and prolapses, but also all
thrift, signs of worm infections etc. After the
visit he issues a signed report in which he mentions
his findings and states that he has got all the
information he has asked for. We certify in the same
certificate with our signatiure, that we have given
all the information we have been asked about, and
that we have not seen any symptoms of disease in
between visits, which we have not told him about. A
copy of those reports is available for any
interested buyer.
Svend Bek-Pedersen has also
got our permission to give any information he has
about our flock to third party. He can be contacted
on: svend@bek-pedersen.dk
